Gender Representation

Desperate Housewives introduction:
Within the opening sequence of this TV drama we see that traditional representations were still present as women has the 'house wive' role. Examples of this were that women were cleaning up after their husbands as men seemed to still have the superior role. we see within the opening sequence that women still carried on with chores whilst pregnant. Women also did all cooking and cleaning. Although within the opening sequence we see women doing 'house wive' chores we also see that women can be more dominant over the male generation, desperate housewives shows that women can have a career but also still look after their husbands and homes, and example of this is within the opening sequence when 'Adam and Eve' are shown and the apple drops upon Adam. At the end of the opening scene each main character has their own apple this is trying to convey each women can do both gender roles by working and being a typical housewife.
