Identify as many examples of diegetic and non-diegetic sound as you can:
Diegetic: The car engine in the opening scene, someone banging from the inside of the boot, gun shots and windows smashing.
Non-diegetic: Opening sequence music, voiceover throughout the opening scene
From the dialouge what do we know about the narrative (Storyline)?
From what we have heard from th characters we can pick up that the narrative will be about gangsters, as we hear the main chaaracter say "I always wanted to be a gangster" which makes it quite obvious. we can also tell from the way they talk that it is very "gangster-ish"
How important is the use of music?
I think in this Movie and the Opening Sequence the use of music is very important because it helps us define what time period the movie is from, we know this because of the type of music that was playing (Swing Music). The music was parallel to what was happening on-screen which is important because it helps the audience understand more of the mood of whats happening on-screen!!
