Types of TV drama

The Serial-  a continuing narrative over a limited number of linked programmes.
Usually dont have to have an ending after each episode and most times there is a cliff hanger
based around about 13 episodes.
Examples- Waterloo Road





Soaps- An ongoing storyline and usually set in an enclosed location thats used in the programed regulary. Example- Eastenders,Hollyoaks,Coronation street.
Series- These are linked programes with the same lead characters, each episode has an ending so the story of that episode is complete.
Examples- Misfits,Skins,Inbetweeners.
