THE SUB-GENRE CONVENTIONS ARE:
CHARACTERS: You have the traditional family of the mother (Susan), father(Ben), son (michael) and daughter (janey), but also includes a cousin (Abby) and a family friend (Roger).
STORIES/NARRATIVES: The parents go off to work most of the time, the mother works for an art gallery, and the father is a dentist. It is just a normal family life, and showing what a typical family is like. The episode changes each time, this makes it a series.
FAMILIAR SETTINGS: This TV drama is mostly set their living room inside their house or at either of the parents work places.
DIALOGUE: The parents disagree with eachother, the family friend, the family friend and the cousin are more like the people who annoy the family. Their children are just typical teenagers (what you would expect, e.g arguing with parents, fighting with eachother.
MUSIC: The theme tune is catchy and easy to remember. It makes you want to expect a happy family as the theme tune is easy to listen to, however that can be misleading.
